Location – Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (KSA)
As a Director of Indirect Tax, you will lead our client’s tax team in managing all aspects of indirect taxation. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in tax law, compliance, and strategy, with the expertise to navigate complex tax regulations and provide strategic insights to optimise the organisation’s tax position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Client Management – Oversee key client relationships, providing strategic advice on complex indirect tax matters. Ensure timely and high-quality client deliverables.
- Practice Development – Lead the growth of the Indirect Tax practice in Saudi Arabia through thought leadership, best practices, and participation in firm-wide initiatives.
- Team Leadership – Mentor and manage Senior Managers, Managers, and Consultants, providing guidance and supporting professional development. Monitor team performance and drive goal achievement.
- Research & Analysis – Conduct in-depth research on complex indirect tax issues, identifying tax planning opportunities and providing actionable recommendations.
- Business Development – Identify new business opportunities, build relationships with prospective clients, and contribute to proposals and client presentations.
- Project Oversight – Manage multiple client engagements, ensuring timely delivery, adherence to budgets, and exceptional service quality.
- Risk Management – Assess and mitigate risks associated with client engagements, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Indirect Tax Compliance – Oversee the preparation and review of tax returns and related filings in accordance with Saudi tax regulations, ensuring compliance and meeting deadlines.
- Indirect Tax Advisory – Provide expert guidance on indirect tax matters, ensuring clients meet regulatory requirements and deadlines.
- Team Development – Foster skill enhancement and career growth within the team by implementing tailored training and development plans.
- Performance Management – Set clear expectations, track team performance, and support continuous improvement.
Skills and attributes:
- Education – You should have a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. A master’s degree in tax or accounting is preferred.
- Certification – You should have a professional certification in accounting or tax (e.g. CPA, SOCPA, ADIT, CTA).
- Skills – You should have an entrepreneurial personality, strong leadership skills, strong analytical skills, be able to work independently as well as part of a team, have excellent attention to detail, and be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. You should also have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience: You should have at least 10 – 13 years of relevant experience in a tax or accounting firm, with at least 5-8 of those years in a leadership role.
- Language: Fluency in English is Mandatory and Arabic is highly preferable
