Location – London
Our client’s Tax Department manages the tax affairs of the Corporation and provides support and assistance to the firm on tax matters affecting the firm, including the filing of tax returns and payment of taxes. It also represents the interests of the firm with UK and overseas tax authorities.
The role reporting to the senior manager is in the direct tax team which deals with corporation tax compliance, reporting and advisory services for the Corporation and its subsidiaries.
The role
To deal with direct tax issues affecting the Corporation, taking responsibility for direct tax compliance, reporting and payment obligations of the Corporation and its subsidiaries, ensuring compliance with risk and governance requirements, oversight of the Corporation’s overseas subsidiaries, technical input into project and advisory work and line management, training and development responsibility for junior member of staff.
Key responsibilities
- Responsibility for preparation and delivery of UK tax corporation returns and other UK compliance (e.g. CbCR, CIR return etc) for the Corporation and its UK subsidiaries for review by a senior manager with support from junior member of the team.
- Responsibility for preparation and delivery of the consolidated group tax reporting workbook for review by a senior manager with support from junior member of the team.
- Providing direct tax technical analysis to and leading on Corporation projects and queries.
- Responsibility for ensuing the operation of key controls within tax department.
- Responsibility for maintaining governance framework for overseas network.
- Liaise with HMRC on areas relevant to role.
- Act as a principal point of contact outside of the department for direct tax matters and provide support to other departments on direct tax issues.
- Management and development responsibility for junior member of staff.

Knowledge
- Solid and broad knowledge of key UK and international direct tax issues and the tax environment.
- Either in-depth knowledge of or the ability to develop and maintain an in depth knowledge of the insurance industry and the firm.
Experience
- Solid grounding in UK corporation tax compliance and reporting is essential and an awareness of other taxes (e.g. VAT and premium taxes, PAYE, capital gains tax).

Professional Qualifications
