Digital Audit is a specialist team within our client’s Audit practice that combines a mix of technology, data, business and accounting expertise to how they audit clients across all industries. There are two sides to Digital Audit which include: using the latest tools to help digitise the way the firm delivers audits through automation, AI, data analytics and innovation – known as Digital Auditing. The other side is Auditing Digital which involves auditing clients’ technology to give them assurance that security and controls are in place. This includes infrastructure, Cloud, and applications.

The team is part of the larger UK Audit practice. They provide and develop innovation initiatives across a large array of audit clients. They do this through the implementation of advanced analytics, robotics, AI and machine learning, leveraging the best technologies currently on the market.
The team works with audit clients and internal audit stakeholders to develop data-driven audit approaches and generate crucial insights and find patterns in data to match with our understanding of client risk assessments. They also build scalable automated solutions for existing audit processes across an array of industries. They often assure that information and data provided to the audit practice is accurate, complete, and can be trusted.
The role
As the UK Audit Data Acquisition Manager, you will be responsible for working directly with the UK Audit Data Acquisition Project Lead and other UK x-LoS team leads to drive the usage of the automated data extraction techniques to obtain data from clients’ accounting and operating systems to drive the usage of the Data Acquisition toolkit (internal software platforms/ DataShare) across many of the UK engagements. The role will be integral to the success of the firm’s broader Digital Audit strategy and will enable you to build a strong understanding for the role data acquisition plays in the modern day audit in order to leverage Next Generation Audit (NGA).
Key responsibilities
- Working closely with the UK Data Acquisition Project Lead and UK DAL (Data Acquisition Leader), to support in the development and execution of the Data Acquisition strategy
- Managing a team of UK Data Acquisition onboarding SMEs
- Supporting the UK onboarding SMEs, made up of Associates and Senior Associates, with prioritisation and ensuring an even split of work across the team using DevOps as the primary project management tool
- Responsible for training and support of new onboarding SMESs
- Providing technical support to the team of UK Data Acquisition onboarding SMEs
- Point of escalation for complex technical issues with the extraction tools, or the ingestion and transformation of data in C-AMS
- Key UK contact for the technical functionality of C-AMS – knowledge of how the platform works ‘under the hood’ to support troubleshooting prior to Global involvement
- Key UK contact for the functionality of DataShare (third party tool built by Validis) – knowledge of how the platform works to support troubleshooting prior to Validis involvement
- Key UK contact for manual ECF creation and editing process – oversight of all edits made to ECFs through the CAMS process, provides support for creation of manual ECFs by wider team, and responsible for cataloguing UK-developed ECFs
- Lead contact on complex and high profile client onboards for internal software platforms
- Leading pilot and development activities:
- ‘Hands on’ for pilot and testing of new data extraction solutions, internal software platforms, DataShare or C-AMS are directly involved tools, including the rollout of upgrades and new functionality
- Support development workstreams for DataShare (e.g. rollout of new functionality and new systems)
- Liaise with Global teams on bug fixes and enhancements to the toolkit
- Actively involved in UK development workstreams relating to C-AMS e.g. DataShare/CAMS integration
- Working with UK Risk and Quality team to ensure that the tools and further use cases are managed effectively
- Working closely with the Audit Transformation T Implementation team to ensure that all Data Acquisition related content available for ETs/ clients remains up to date and accurate, including UK Google site content
Skills and attributes
- Some knowledge/experience of existing data extraction techniques Data Acquisition toolkit (internal software platforms, DataShare)
- Technical mindset and awareness of some of the complexities of data acquisition (databases, VPNs, encryption/security)
- Understanding of audit requirements and having some technical competency (SQL/Python/Power BI, API’s, Snaplogic, GITHub) to support troubleshooting and application development
- Experience in DevOps and/ or software development project management
- Experience in managing a team
- Good presentation/communication and influencing skills
- Strong ‘customer service’ mindset
- Good time and job management skills, communication skills and strong ability to work across a number of separate projects simultaneously while maintaining contact with other team members
- Strong market credentials in data & analytics working with large organisations and an ability to demonstrate knowledge and insight in data management, data cleansing and data analytics within the audit process
- Strong stakeholder management and interpersonal skills, including communication with senior stakeholders of a non-data background (being able to communicate technical issues in simple business terms) and excellent reporting writing skills
- Proven analytical and problem solving capabilities on complex engagements
