Tax Technology Senior Associate


Location – Manchester, Belfast, Birmingham, Cardiff, Edinburgh, London


The tax landscape is constantly changing. Regulatory requirements are increasing, business and finance transformation is commonplace, and tax authorities and boards are demanding that tax risks are effectively managed. In this fast changing world, our client’s Tax Reporting & Strategy (TRS) team is helping clients build a sustainable tax strategy for the future. Their complete approach to tax management brings together tax function design, technology and compliance delivery to help clients understand and meet these challenges head-on. The national TRS team is embedded within the firm’s market facing client teams within Tax, putting them in a unique position to meet their clients’ needs. Working in TRS you’ll advise both domestic and international clients on the end to end management of tax across their business.

Our client solves complex tax problems with technology. Projects range from one-off initiatives, through to long-term tax transformation engagements.


The role                          

Due to rapidly increasing demand our client is looking for staff at both the Senior Associate and Manager grade to help drive its Tax Technology business within its Tax Reporting & Strategy business unit.  Flexible on location the successful individuals can be based at any one of our client’s office locations and will be covering a national client base.

Key responsibilities        

Candidates will have experience in providing a broad range of tax technology advice to clients covering one or more of the following areas:

  • Tax transformation and process improvement
  • Technology strategy for tax
  • Tax data management
  • Process management
  • Design and configuration of tax reporting solutions
  • Manage project timetables, budgets and client deliverables to a high standard
  • Assessing tax reporting processes and controls and advising on best practice and improvement opportunities 
  • Raising the team’s profile and promoting the full range of our capabilities internally and externally. 
  • Actively supporting the partner and director group in the pursuit of opportunities and responses to proposals. 


Skills and attributes

  • Project management experience with technology implementations. 
  • Good business awareness. 
  • Excellent IT, database and spreadsheet skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • A knowledge of accounting principles. 
  • Business development experience is an advantage.
  • Working knowledge of the types of technology used by the tax department i.e. ERP systems, provisioning tools, tax calculation engines, data analytics and visualisation, and workflow
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Excellent problem solving, analytical, numerical and listening skills
  • ACA / CTA qualified – desirable but not essential
