Senior Indirect Tax Manager

Location – Fully Remote, UK

Key responsibilities

  • Managing VAT and indirect tax matters, including review of compliance processes and controls, new and existing tax projects with indirect tax considerations and monitoring the impact of new tax legislation
  • Supporting M&A due diligence processes ensuring indirect tax considerations have been met
  • Leading the implementation and conclusion of ongoing VAT savings projects and identifying new indirect tax savings opportunities for the Group
  • Leading indirect tax support to on-board new acquisitions (systems, processes, compliance) and oversee testing and go-live with Group’s MTD solution
  • Support in preparing and reviewing UK Group VAT returns prepared by the segment finance teams and consolidated by the Indirect Tax Manager. Post-review of other non-UK VAT returns where necessary (e.g. Ireland)
  • Manage discussions with HMRC and internal stakeholders on the Group’s Partial Exemption Special Method (PESM) and associated VAT recoverability
  • Responding to ad hoc VAT and indirect tax queries from business
  • Supporting Tax and Finance team colleagues on international projects including transfer pricing review


Skills and attributes

  • At least 10+ years’ experience in Indirect Tax, in-house experience essential
  • ACA/CTA qualified
  • Relevant VAT experience in the Insurance or Financial Services industry
  • Experience in coaching and managing at least one direct report preferred but not essential

                                       
Reporting directly to the Group Head of Tax, you will demonstrate effective communication skills and enjoy internal and external stakeholder management providing subject matter expertise
