Tax Manager, International Tax


Location – London


Our client’s Corporates International and Complex UK Tax team focus on the large corporates market. They assist clients by managing and advising on international and corporate tax projects as part of multidisciplinary and multijurisdictional teams and provide specialist UK corporation tax advice on a variety of complex issues including global tax strategy and structure, M&A transactions, cross border financing, reorganisations and cross border structuring. They also work closely to support their Energy focused teams in deal advisory, audit and compliance services.


The role                          

Our client is looking for a Tax Manager to join their team in London.  The individual would manage a variety of UK corporation tax and international tax projects and M&A transactions for clients. 


Key responsibilities        

This role involves working on a range of projects and clients. The work includes:

  • Providing buy side and sell side tax support to clients on transactions, including managing the tax due diligence process, tax model support, SPA assistance and structuring advice.
  • Advising UK and international groups on a range of cross border tax issues, group structuring, financing, inbound and outbound investment, etc.
  • Advising clients on a variety of complex UK corporation tax issues (including, but not limited to, the ring fence tax regime, the UK CFC rules, the taxation of loan relationships, derivatives, foreign exchange, Diverted Profits Tax etc.)
  • Project managing cross border teams and UK client service teams on an ongoing basis on advisory projects. This involves liaising with specialists, overseas member firms and external advisers to deliver successful projects and expertise to those clients.
  • Understanding the client’s business and helping to identify areas for the provision of tax and other services.
  • Building strong working relationships with key client contacts.
  • Coaching and developing junior members of staff.
  • Being actively involved in business development and proposal activity.
  • Lead by example with client relationships, technical quality and service delivery.
  • Actively promoting the team and personal profile to internal networks, in order to promote collaboration and increase internal leads.



Skills and attributes       

The successful candidate will have the following skills:

  • CTA, CA, ACA, ACCA or equivalently qualified.
  • A background in UK Corporation tax background preferably with advisory experience in UK corporation tax and international corporate tax issues.
  • Enthusiasm for understanding the challenges and dynamics of the Energy sector
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels (internally and externally) and be a team worker.
  • Sound judgement, including the ability to identify and evaluate risk issues and know when to involve others.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are required in addition to strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • A strong motivation to develop and coach junior team members.
  • High level of drive and enthusiasm with a positive attitude.
  • Ability and willingness to keep up to date technically.
  • Builds the reputation of the firm through the quality of work, knowledge and experience.
