The GCR indirect tax team has specialist tax and finance skill sets spanning the areas of Service Management, Direct Tax Compliance & Reporting, Statutory Reporting, Finance BPO, Funds Tax Management, and Payroll. They focus on supporting clients in managing their compliance and reporting requirements, centrally and locally, and delivering on their transformation agendas. Our client’s indirect tax compliance professionals support large multinational clients with their indirect tax obligations in EMEIA and globally. Dealing with the indirect tax compliance requirements is the heart of the operations but this goes hand in hand with VAT advisory and technology support which they provide or coordinate with their specialist teams. Join our client’s fast growing Global Compliance and Reporting (GCR) team as a Senior Manager in the UK and you will have the opportunity to work on the firm’s largest multi-country client engagements within their EMEIA Tax Center. They are particularly looking for individuals to support financial services (FS) clients. They deploy strong multi-skilled teams working seamlessly across countries and service lines, with major hubs in UK, Ireland, Belgium, Netherlands, Romania and Poland. 


Key responsibilities        

As a Senior Manager in the EMEIA Tax Center, you will be managing a portfolio of FS clients where you are the process owner for the indirect (VAT/GST) compliance outsourced to the firm, including:

  • Act as single point of contact towards the client’s tax manager or director in EMEIA and report to the responsible director/partner in the firm
  • Lead and coach the central client serving team and manage the relationship with our other teams/offices involved supporting this client
  • Set-up and drive standard processes and monitor global metrics
  • Oversee day-to-day operations, manage financials and coordinate services
  • Review progress of operational and continuous improvement targets.
  • Review end-to-end process improvement suggestions; integrate and track agreed-upon process changes
  • Report service performance and escalation status; develop corrective action plans
  • Conduct monthly update calls and meetings
  • In addition, you will participate in commercial initiatives, together with a director or partner, in order to attract new clients or to broaden scope of services at existing clients.
  • Finally, you will be leading one or more strategic initiatives our client defines in terms of:
    • Process: standardization, centralization, design new services, legislative updates, etc.
    • Technology: automation, data analytics, dashboarding, etc.
    • People: training program, career development, recruitment, etc.
    • Go to market: position new services, marketing of existing services, etc.


Skills and attributes

  • Innovative & problem resolution focus with strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Team player with project management capabilities.


To qualify for the role you must have

  • Minimum 8 years of relevant professional experience in EMEIA VAT compliance, either in industry or other service providers.
  • Basic understanding of other compliance activities such as statutory accounting and corporate tax compliance.
  • Basic understanding of IT-systems and VAT/GST reporting solutions


Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Fluent in English – written and spoken. Any additional European language is an asset
  • Excellent communication across cultures and within a virtual working environment
  • Experience and knowledge of Indirect tax compliance within the Financial Services (FS) sector would be an advantage.
