The wider context: Our client’s Tax team is one of the largest in the UK. It prides itself on being innovative but the market for compliance services is changing fast:
- Their clients expect digitally enabled delivery which offers efficiencies and competitive pricing
- HMRC is working towards Making Tax Digital (MTD)
- They have to continue to reduce time spent on simple compliance tasks by their staff, so that they can focus on more complex compliance matters, advisory work and relationship building.
The role
Our client has need of an experienced Operations Co-ordinator to support their Service Delivery Leads and work closely in collaboration with the PCS and CT Tax Associate
Key responsibilities
- Ensure every local team has an engaged compliance champion and this is reflected in e-mail distribution lists. New champions provided Welcome materials (role definition, handy tips)
- Arrange regular meetings with Champions (including Away Day), prepare/collate presentation materials/management information, draft minutes
- Liaise with LHOTs and local Champions to ensure timely compliance with local responsibilities eg:
- the annual SSC and OPT forecasting process and the tax payment reminder process
- Dealing with or supporting with queries when TRQs/OPT invitations sent
- Ensuring responsibilities, workflow, claims and elections up to date and NLAs archived
- Engagement with pilots
- Gathering feedback from pilots/SSC/OPT
- Provide management information to Service Delivery Lead and to LHOTs (eg SSC usage, OPT usage, SSC survey completion rate)
- Arrange regular meetings with LHOTs (together with their Champion)
- General support to the Service Delivery Leads and close collaboration with the PCS and CT Tax Associate
Skills and attributes
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Good organisational skills
- Experience of using the SSC and OPTC from the client facing side useful but not essential
- Strong IT skills – excel, word, powerpoint and industry relevant software e.g. CCH, Alphatax
- Tax technical knowledge is not essential for this role
