Our client’s Financial Services Tax deals team works closely with their Deals practice to advise on the tax implications of all aspects of transactions in the financial services sector. This includes providing tax advice on mergers & acquisitions, IPOs, and refinancing/restructuring of previous transactions. Part of the wider Corporate Tax network, they work collaboratively across specialisms to drive value and help clients succeed at all stages of the deal lifecycle.
The role
Our client is looking for experienced, driven people keen to specialise in M&A tax and who have an interest in the FS industry. In addition, there will be the opportunity to work on complex international tax structuring/advisory projects. The team has enjoyed significant growth over the last three years and has ambitious plans for further growth in the coming years. There is now a need for high calibre individuals to help drive this growth whilst maintaining the team’s high standards and inclusive working style. Key responsibilities
- Lead teams to deliver bespoke, commercially focused tax advice in a fast-paced and evolving international deals market
- Responsibility for establishing and maintaining relationships as a trusted advisor, and for ensuring successful delivery and management of projects
- Be proactive in seeking opportunities to deliver and enhance value for new and existing clients, in particular identifying and pursuing post-deal value add opportunities
- Develop your internal network to draw upon specialist input on tax and non-tax matters in connection with transactions
- Be a role model in your personal development, coaching your team to advance their learning and fulfil their own potential
- Be agile and open minded in your approach to new challenges and seek opportunities to enhance project delivery through new technologies
Skills and attributes
- An inquisitive mind and ability to solve problems as part of a diverse team
- Chartered Accountant (ACCA, ICAEW, ICAS, CAI) or Chartered Tax Advisor (ATT, CTA) or equivalent international or legal professional qualification
- Successfully led teams on a number of M&A transactions including due diligence and structuring
- An awareness of indirect and transfer taxes, management taxes and international tax principles in a deal context
- A proven track record of building internal and external relationships and networks, both within the UK and overseas
- Developed communication skills, specifically in negotiating with and influencing others
- Strong analytical, project management and report writing skills
- Ability to use tax technical knowledge and insights in a fast-paced commercial environment
- Previous experience, or an interest, in providing advice on international tax matters
- Previous experience with financial services clients an advantage, but not essential
