The team
Our client is looking to hire a Business Tax Manager in their Gatwick office, to join the specialist not-for-profit team. This is a wonderful opportunity to join the team in Gatwick (Partner, Director, AD, SM, Tax Principle and a range of Managers and AMs) as well as to work with the national NFP tax team and other tax streams eg VAT, Employment tax etc. Most of their clients are based in London or the South East. The client base is a mix of clients in the NFP space, that have a social purpose eg: social housing, main steam charities, household charity names, small NFP organisations, education etc
The role
This role will provide tax compliance and advisory services to a wide range of clients. The primary responsibility will be to deal with all matters relating to the management of a portfolio of clients. You will also provide assistance to Director/Principals/Partners in both client work and in the management of the group and on occasions the practice. You will be involved in special assignments on an ad hoc basis. A key part of the role requires the individual to actively seek, and keep the Partner informed about, any new business opportunities arising with existing and new clients.
Key responsibilities
- Provide tax compliance and advisory services to a wide range of clients using resource from a shared service team or via technology tools.
- Manage a substantial portfolio of clients including control of client take-on and engagement, billings, and identification of opportunities to improve recoveries, together with cash collection.
- Pays attention to self-development and continuing professional education with a view to progressing within the practice.
- Develops professional relationships with clients and within the Firm and adapts the approach for the relevant audience.
- Understands potential risks to the Firm in relation to the Firm’s quality control procedures and raising to the appropriate person.
- Get involved in special assignments on an ad hoc basis.
- Guide and supervise less experienced colleagues.
- Support, train, mentor and advise others in their own area.
- Challenge current practice – driving improvements and championing change.
- Take personal responsibility for your own decisions and actions and those of others.
- Lead complex projects

You’ll be someone who can work proactively, managing your own tasks, but you’ll also be confident collaborating with others, and communicating regularly with senior managers, Directors, and Partners to enable our client to serve their clients effectively. You’ll be encouraged to identify and draw attention to opportunities for enhancing our client’s delivery and providing additional services.
