Private Equity Tax Manager

Due to our client’s continuing success and ambitious growth plans in the private equity market, they are looking for a talented Tax Manager to join their dynamic private equity focused tax team.

The role                          

The firm supports their private equity clients with tax issues affecting senior executives, the investment funds themselves, and link into transactions. Their client base will provide you with a fantastic opportunity to work on a challenging and varied portfolio of clients from small start-ups to large multi fund businesses, across a wide range of tax issues. You will have exposure to a range of work including fund structuring, compliance, investor reporting and advisory services both in the UK and internationally.


Key responsibilities        

You will be responsible for dealing with all matters relating to the running of your portfolio of clients, supported by directors and partners in the team and working with more junior colleagues.  Your portfolio will include asset managers, investment partnerships and fund management structures. You will:

  • Drive the private equity strategy by supporting the growth of the business, challenging and improving processes, and delivering high quality advice and compliance services.
  • Run client relationships – acting as a key point of contact for clients, ensuring the team respond promptly to, as well as anticipate, client requests/needs, and maintaining regular contact with clients.
  • Oversee a portfolio of clients, taking responsibility for delivery of tax compliance and advisory services as well as billing and risk management supported by managers and the junior team.
  • Deal with complex tax issues, with support from partners and directors.
  • Be responsible for the delivery of final tax advice to clients.
  • Leverage internal networks to serve clients, both in the UK and internationally.
  • Recognise and seek out business and sales opportunities and work with the Partners and Directors to develop these.
  • Develop your own network of contacts internally and externally.
  • Actively participate in the management of the group.
  • Be responsible for coaching and developing managers and more junior members of staff.
  • Actively share knowledge and experiences with others in the firm through participating in training courses, knowledge sharing forums or acting as one of the firm’s tax champions.


Skills and attributes       

Our client is looking for someone with:

  • Qualified ACA/CTA (or equivalent) with demonstrable post-qualified experience.
  • Ideally the candidate would have relevant experience in a partnership tax compliance and advisory role or a corporate and personal tax compliance and advisory role, with experience of dealing with private equity funds and management structures.
  • Experience of involvement in and dealing with complex tax advisory projects.
  • Ability to manage a client portfolio.
  • Experience of dealing with client senior management.
  • Involvement in business development activities with new and/or existing clients.
  • Self-motivated with excellent communication.
  • Experience of supervising junior staff.
  • A commitment to technical and personal development, with the drive and ambition to progress and fulfil your full potential.
  • A commercial mindset, being motivated to support the team’s growth.
