The role
There is an exciting opportunity for an individual with previous experience of working in reward in either an in-house role or consulting firm to join our client’s Reward & Employment team as an executive reward consultant. The role would be responsible for advising management teams and remuneration committees for a wide range of UK listed (PLC and AIM) and unlisted (family, private equity-backed) businesses on all aspects of remuneration, including reviews of remuneration policy and provision of market practice. The scope of the role is wide and will vary depending on the needs of clients. Our client is searching for bright, enthusiastic individuals who have a can-do, proactive attitude to reward consulting.
Key responsibilities
- Carrying out remuneration benchmarking for senior roles, including executive directors and non-executive directors
- Advising on incentive design, including for annual bonus and long term incentive plans
- Reviewing of and/or drafting remuneration reports and other remuneration disclosures
- Modelling remuneration plans including analysis of payouts, costs and dilution
- Assisting with preparation for remuneration committee meetings, including writing and/or reviewing papers
- Advising on governance, including reviewing clients’ terms of reference for the remuneration committee
- Advising clients on preparation for listing on the stock exchange
- Assisting with client management, including risk processes, timely billing and cash collection
- Informal and formal training of junior members of the team
Skills and attributes
- Experience of working in a reward team, either in-house or within a consultancy practice
- Understanding of the UK governance framework around executive remuneration, including corporate governance code; UK listing rule requirements; disclosure requirements, role of shareholders and proxy agencies etc
- Able to project manage team
- Able to deliver bespoke written and oral advice to clients in a simple way
- Strong communication skills and ability to build effective relationships
- Strong report writing skills
- Broader reward experience including reward strategy, job architecture, pay and grading structures and/or performance management experience would be advantageous
