Innovation and Technology Software Manager


Location – Birmingham (open to flexible working)


Our client’s specialist Innovation & Technology Group comprises engineers, software programmers and scientists as well as specialist finance professionals such as auditors and tax accountants all of whom are experienced in claiming R&D tax relief. The Innovation and Technology team provide the following services:

  • Claiming R&D tax relief
  • R&D Allowances (RDAs)
  • Grants
  • Patent Box
  • International R&D relief



The role                          

This is a client facing role where you will be working with key business stakeholders (CEO, finance director, technical director) from a wide range of industry sectors undertaking development activities within the field of Software engineering. A key aspect for this role will be the ability to translate complex ideas into non-technical concepts and communicate these to a broad client base, as well as the ability to build rapport with the client and manage all aspects of the project. As part of a fast-growing team, you will have the opportunity to contribute in sales, marketing and mentoring activities to support the business growth.

  • A holder of a recognised Computer Sciences university degree (MSc and / or PhD). This in combination with a business degree would be an advantage
  • Ideally, some experience in software development and programming in two or more of the following: SQL, Oracle, X10, .NET CLR,JVM, JavaScript, C#, XML, HTML, PHP, Solaris, Redhat
  • 4 years of experience in the R&D tax relief services or industry equivalent
  • Excellent communication (both spoken and written)
  • Strong numerical ability
  • Curiosity, awareness and an interest in the fields of science, technology and innovation
  • Be highly proactive in the approach to new work opportunities
  • Team player and ability to work on own initiative
  • Able to project a professional, credible image
  • Trustworthy and able to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Able to travel to clients’ premises for meetings and on-site reviews as well as other offices as needed
