The role
Our client is looking for someone to support tax-related endeavors by conducting extensive research, analysis, and crafting advisory documents for Multinational Enterprises (MNEs) concerning intricate business transactions and structures across all Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, with a primary focus on the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).
This role involves assisting Seniors in advising clients on various tax aspects, including Value Added Tax (VAT), Corporate Income Tax (CIT), Customs duties, Transfer pricing, and Excise duties. The objective is to ensure clients’ compliance with GCC tax regulations and equip them with necessary information for timely commercial decisions.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research on tax matters and perform thorough analysis.
- Review client information, such as financial records, income statements, and expenditures, and draft responses to tax queries and concerns for Senior review.
- Prepare tax memoranda, reports, opinions, and clarification/ruling requests for Senior assessment.
- Assist in providing tax planning/structuring advice and contribute to tax modeling for client mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and other significant corporate transactions, including integration planning and execution.
- Proactively stay updated on tax laws, regulations, and systems and effectively apply them to client matters.
- Aid in Tax and Economic Substance compliances, ensuring adherence to governmental regulations at all stages of the compliance process, including tax registrations, returns, notifications, reports, and refunds.
- Support tax health checks, reviews, audits, and the preparation of voluntary disclosures as necessary.
- Assist Seniors in litigation matters and liaise with tax authorities as required.
Skills and attributes
- Possess a minimum of 2 years of experience as a Tax Consultant in a tax advisory or accounting role, preferably with exposure to tax matters in a top-tier international law firm or Big 4 organization.
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in law, economics, or accounts, or possess equivalent work experience, with a track record of graduating as a top performer.
- Proficient in MS Office 365 and Apple software.
