Our client is a global leader in assurance, tax, transaction, and advisory services, with a strong presence in the Republic of Ireland. Its Research & Development (R&D) Tax team is made up of tax, technology, engineering and science specialists who work on a diverse range of clients, including multinational corporations, entrepreneurs, and indigenous companies.
This opportunity is ideal for individuals with relevant specialist scientific, engineering or technological qualifications and prior experience in R&D tax credit consultancy. The ideal candidates will have a passion for innovation, a history of preparing and submitting successful R&D tax claims, a solid understanding of a scientific, technological or engineering field, and the ability to work collaboratively with clients across various industries.
Key responsibilities
- Working with senior team members to conduct detailed technical interviews
- with the client’s senior scientific/technical/engineering staff, to develop an understanding of the technical characteristics of the projects undertaken.
- Communicating directly with clients including scheduling interviews, issuing deliverables and answering queries.
- Creating detailed technical project reports describing the scientific/technological objectives, advancements and uncertainties of clients’ projects to support their R&D claim.
- Analysing, understanding and interpreting complex scientific/technical information provided by clients, to draw appropriate conclusions.
- Assisting in the provision of high quality advice and solutions to clients, ensuring management of risk and reputation.
- Ability to provide practical approaches and solutions to situations and apply critical thinking to ensure the delivery of high quality technical work products.
- Anticipating and identifying risks that require escalation and subsequently escalating these risks to more senior staff, as appropriate.
- Supporting the business in winning new clients through the preparation of proposal documents.
- Performing engagement management tasks and PMO tasks.
- Supporting in the successful delivery of technically complex and demanding consulting projects, ensuring scientific/technical excellence and practical/business driven approach is taken.
Skills and requirements
- 3-6+ years in R&D Tax Credits and R&D Corporation Tax Credits schemes under the guidance of Revenue Commissioners, ROI.
- A strong technical background in science, technology, or engineering (PhD preferred but not required).
- Experience working in a field of science or technology (NOT required although would be advantageous).
- 1+ years experience as a manager.
- A track record in creating or reviewing scientific/technical documents and have a sound grasp of Excel, Word and Powerpoint.
- Demonstrated knowledge of their field of science or technology, and demonstrated understanding of the commercial/technical issues faced in this field.
- Interviewing and presenting skills.
