The role
Our client’s Corporate Tax practice is a dynamic and successful area of their business and will cover a wide spectrum of tax advisory matters including core compliance, transaction focussed advisory, tax risk, innovation and technology solutions. They work alongside the firm’s key sector teams. Our client’s people have flexibility in the areas and sectors they cover and are able to support the teams’ growth through their contribution.
This role will provide corporate tax compliance, advisory and accounting services to a range of clients across all lines of the sector. Clients include FTSE companies, AIM listed companies, and private equity backed as well as privately owned businesses.
The primary responsibility will involve working, and developing relationships, with clients to advise on corporate planning and restructuring projects both in the UK and internationally, as well as producing complex UK tax computations and returns.
Key responsibilities
- Provide Tax compliance and advisory services to a wide range of clients using resources from a shared service team or via technology tools.
- Manage a substantial portfolio of clients including control of client take on and engagement, billings, and identification of opportunities to improve recoveries, together with cash collection.
- Pay attention to self-development and continuing professional education with a view to progressing within practice.
- Develop professional relationships with clients and within the Firm and adapt the approach for the relevant audience.
- Understand potential risks to the Firm in relation to the Firm’s quality control procedures and raise to the appropriate person.
- Get involved in special assignments on an ad hoc basis.
- Guide and supervise less experienced colleagues.
- Support, train, mentor and advise others in own area.
- Challenge current practice – driving improvements and championing change.
- Take personal responsibility for own decisions and actions and those of others.
- Lead complex projects
Skills and attributes
- Strong understanding of and previous experience within corporate tax compliance, dealing with the annual tax return process of both small and large clients
- Experience of providing corporate tax advisory and compliance services to a variety of clients
- Ability to manage a substantial client portfolio profitably whilst being able to actively seek opportunities for developing new clients and for selling new services to existing clients
- Ability to undertake tax audits for clients under UK GAAP and IFRS
- Ability to prepare proposals for new work, including researching target client companies and on technical issues to identify new solutions
- Experience of managing staff
- Ability to actively seek opportunities for selling new services to existing clients
- Educated to degree level, and CTA and/or ACA qualified or equivalent
